Cemetery Statue

In the farthest corner of the little cemetery there was this grave decorated with the statue of a mourning woman.

Engraved the name of a woman, born in 1923 and deceased in 1987. There was also the name of her husband.
Born also in 1923 but no date of death.
It made me wonder.
Was he still alive, aged 92, or dead too but buried somewhere else, reluctant to spend eternity with his wife.
I guess time will tell.

I shot this with the G.Zuiko 50mm f1,4 wide open and after scanning did some post-processing in Lightroom and Photoshop. Nothing special, only local contrast and dodging and burning as I would do in a wet darkroom.

I must admit that I love wandering over old cemeteries. There is so much beauty in the graves and their ornaments.

  1. Superb shot Stephan and like you I too love graveyards there is always such a sense of peace within them.

An update on one of my om2’s it died today wound on and it sounded terrible, like a gearbox that’s dropped all its gears. Upshot was it just didn’t wind on anymore, I’m now looking for another.

I am so sorry to hear about your OM-2n. I guess you tried the reset/check position of the lever? I truly hope you’ll find another one soon.

Thank you Mark. I found it to be one of the more beautiful grave statues as the young girls expression is so very touching.
      Kind regards,
      Stephan
